What to do after B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering? This is a question which make every Mechanical Engineering Student to think about what to do next. Whenever any student come in B.Tech., he don't actually have a clear idea about the course. When he ask other people about what he can do next to make his Career, many of people suggest them to crack this exam or that examination. Yes, it depends upon college or university too,from where the Student is persuing his Bachelor of Technology, but it Massively depend only on Hard Work of the student 👌 Here we are sharing an answer on Quora by P. Multani GOVT SECTOR (too much competition) MECHANICAL 1.For PSU- You have to Prepare hard for gate and get good AIR rank (below 400 General category). Some PSU also conduct there own exam (without gate) like ISRO, DMRC, DMRC, BARC etc. With help of GATE Score u can also join M.Tech in IIT, NIT & other prestigious institutes like VIT, BITS, PEC etc And this score is also valid for doing MS in Singapore univ like NUS, NTU and Germany also. If you will be focused and sound about your future then you definitely end up in the good private sector job. After Mtech you can also opt for PhD in top institutes in India or abroad. 2.For IES/ESE- you have to Prepare very hard for this exam (objective + conventional). Exam is conducted by UPSC. 3. STATE EXAMS - if you are preparing for above two exams then it will be very easy to crack state exams like A.E/SDE in irrigation, water supply, Electricity board, Lecturer in Govt college (All Conducted by State Public service Commission), J.E in mechanical etc. 4. UPSC ORA - you have to see online recruitment applications on UPSC website for exams like JWM in railways, Assistant engineer in various central departments etc. 5. SSE in railways - Conducted by RRB. 6. Two year fellowship programme as Jrf/Srf in CSIR, DRDO, IITs- they conduct interviews. OTHER THAN MECHANICAL 1.IAS/IPS/IRS/IFS/IFoS etc - Exam conducted by UPSC. You can also take mechanical as optional subject in this examination (it's upto you). Very much hard and competitive. Assistant commandant exam is also conducted by UPSC. 2.Banking PSU- RBI Grade B exam/ clerk, IBPS PO/clerk, SBI PO/Clerk, RRB PO/ clerk. Prepare for apti, reasoning, english, math etc. 3.Army,Navy,Airforce - These are Royal jobs. You have to prepare for CDSE, AFCAT or fill the TGC forms, then clear the SSB interview. PRIVATE SECTOR (Search faithfully, Think wisely) MECHANICAL (Start with Hardwork but it will surely paysoff) 1.Try to give interviews in private companies as internship in companies like M&M ltd, bharat benz, Siemens india, ashoka Leyland, Tata motors, AVL, Horlicks, etc. If u will utilize your good knowledge , there will be chances of getting absorbed by these companies. 2. Finding internship is difficult task, but doing internship in small organizations will land up you in big companies like M&M ltd, benz, Siemens india, ashoka Leyland, Tata motors etc, wether as a regular job or as intern. If they take you as an intern then do hardwork and it will surely paysoff (You have to work hard for a particular field only, like Design engineer field ,Production engineer field , Calibration engineer field - Your knowledge in Internship will matter for getting regular job) 3. You have to search for smaller organization who give internship in Automobile field, Design engineering etc. Mostly, you have to pay for getting these internship. Think twice before getting internship in the field as that field will decide your future satisfaction level. So, first search yourself what field you want to choose like Design, Thermal, Industrial, Production, Automobile etc. OTHER OPTIONS 1. Already mentioned, how to get private job after doing Masters from prestigious institutes through Gate. 2. MBA - CAT examination or other individual exams. Placement depend on univ and you. 3. MS or PG diploma in foreign countries like Germany, Australia, Canada, Austria, Singapore etc. Search world ranking before applying to any univ. Or apply for internship in foreign universities. (You have to search too much on internet). 4. Merchant Navy- Too much money, but life style and satisfaction depends on you ALL THE BEST HARDWORK CAN BEAT TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESNT HARDWORK P.
