To make the tavern feel like a truly usable public building, we also add proper restrooms, something that often gets overlooked but adds a surprising amount of realism to the overall design. The entrance of the tavern also gets a complete redesign. We rethink how players enter the building, how the space opens up, and how the first impression sets the tone for what’s inside. The goal is to make the tavern feel inviting from the very first step. One highlight of this episode is the fireplace. This part comes together surprisingly fast, and the first design immediately feels right. The fireplace becomes a natural focal point of the tavern, adding warmth, atmosphere, and that cozy medieval feeling we were hoping for. However, one challenge remains: finding the right block that can stay permanently lit to create a constantly burning fire. We experiment, think through different options, and plan how to solve this for a believable, always-burning fireplace in future episodes.
