Drunk Driver Runs From Highway Patrol And Gets Tased Inside House

On August 5, 2025, a California Highway Patrol officer assigned to the Newhall Area conducted a traffic stop on Sierra Highway north of Anthony Road in northeast Los Angeles County after radar confirmed a vehicle traveling at 92 miles per hour in the posted 55 mph zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer observed signs of alcohol impairment, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage, red and watery eyes, and slurred speech. The driver allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and declined field sobriety tests. After being advised he was under arrest, the driver allegedly accelerated away from the traffic stop, leading officers on a short pursuit through a residential area. Speeds during the pursuit were reported at approximately 55 mph. The vehicle entered a driveway and the driver fled on foot into a residence. The officer made entry while in pursuit with his bodycam capturing the events. An Electronic Control Device (Taser) was deployed, and the driver was taken into custody without further incident. The driver was transported to Henry Mayo Hospital where a blood sample was collected.
