In today’s video, we’re going to be taking you on a food tour of what to eat in Argentina. El Bolson is a charming mountain town in Patagonia, Argentina. This place is a nature lover’s playground with crystalline rivers, hidden waterfalls, and forest trails to explore. When we weren’t hiking, we were getting to know the town’s many restaurants, breweries and ice cream shops, so today we’re going to introduce you to some of the dishes we enjoyed like suprema de pollo, parrilla, fried empanadas, egg-topped pizza, cakes, pies, raspberry beer, and even Sam’s beloved dulce de leche ice cream! Now let’s kick off this foodie tour around El Bolson! Restaurants we visited in El Bolson: Patio Venzano: fried empanadas, parrilla, flan with dulce de leche. Confitería Reina: Patagonian pizza with fried eggs and pancetta, coconut tart, chocolate sponge cake with forest berries jam and cream. Bodega Jovita: suprema (breaded and fried chicken breast) with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon and fried eggs. Helados Jauja: ice cream trio featuring dulce de leche with merengue, Andean chocolate with walnuts, and wild berries in cream. Patio Cervecero: raspberry beer and loaded fries with cheddar cheese, bacon, and chives. And that concludes our food tour of El Bolson! We hope this video gave you a few ideas of some of the delicious mains, desserts and drinks you can enjoy in town, if you ever do find yourself in this part of Patagonia. Now wishing you buen provecho and we’ll see you soon with more videos from Patagonia! 🍽️ El Bolsón Food Tour: Best Eats, Ice Cream, Empanadas, Steaks & Desserts in Patagonia Argentina | Where to Eat in El Bolsón 🇦🇷🗻 🌄 Introduction to El Bolsón & Appetite for Adventure In today’s video, we’re taking you on a mouthwatering food tour of El Bolsón, a scenic mountain town nestled in Patagonia, Argentina. Surrounded by crystalline rivers, hidden waterfalls, and enchanting forests, El Bolsón is a haven for hikers and outdoor lovers. After action-packed days on the trails, big appetites await. That was definitely the case for us—between hikes, we dove headfirst into the town’s vibrant culinary scene, exploring restaurants, breweries, ice cream shops, and bakeries. 🥟 Starters & Empanadas: The Perfect Beginning No food adventure in Argentina starts without empanadas, and in El Bolsón, the crispy, golden “empanadas fritas” with juicy meat fillings are a must. Served alongside fresh bread and a beetroot-infused dip, the meal is complemented by a bottle of Finca Las Moras, a triple blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The flavors set the tone for an epic food journey ahead. 🥩 Parrilla Perfection: Suprema de Pollo & Meat Medleys If you crave grilled meats, El Bolsón delivers. At the local parrilla, we ordered “Suprema de Pollo” (breaded chicken cutlet) and the hearty “Parrilla Completa,” a mixed grill featuring Patagonian lamb ribs, chorizo, and the adventurous chinchulines (beef intestines). Each cut is tender, flavorful, and juicy, especially when paired with a dollop of chimichurri and the house favorite—creamy, sweet pumpkin mash. Pro tip: portions are enormous, so consider sharing! 🍕 Patagonian Pizza & Massive Milanesa Lunch at Novena brought surprises, like the Patagonian pizza—topped with gooey mozzarella, ham, bacon, and four fried eggs! Unusual, hearty, and satisfying, it fueled us after a morning of exploring. The legendary milanesa napolitana (breaded chicken or veal topped with tomato sauce and cheese) arrives in Fred Flintstone portions, literally spilling off the plate. Again, pumpkin mash is the ideal side to balance out the rich flavors. 🍰 Cakes, Pastries & Dessert Delights Dessert is an institution in Argentina, and El Bolsón is no exception. We sampled decadent chocolate sponge cake layered with rich fillings and coconut tarts topped with dense, sweet coconut and fruit glaze. The portions are generous and satisfying, leaving us in a delicious sugar-induced food coma. 🍦 Ice Cream Heaven: Dulce de Leche & More No visit to El Bolsón is complete without a stop at the local heladería (ice cream shop). Even after a huge meal, we couldn’t resist a quarter-kilo tub featuring three flavors: dulce de leche with meringue (Sam’s all-time favorite), Andean chocolate, and forest berry mousse. Each bite is creamy, rich, and packed with local flavor. The verdict? Dulce de leche reigns supreme, but the forest berries are a refreshing treat on a hot day. 🍻 Breweries, Beers & Night Bites For a taste of El Bolsón’s laid-back nightlife, we recommend checking out one of the town’s many artisanal breweries. Beer is often paired with local spins on pub food, like loaded fries.
