📖 Mass Readings & Reflection • First Reading: Book of Genesis 12:1–4 • Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 33 • Gospel: Gospel of Matthew 17:1–9 Character: Abraham — Called to Trust & Persistent Faith In Genesis 12:1–4, Abraham is called to leave behind familiarity and security, stepping into the unknown based solely on God’s promise. His obedience is immediate. He goes not because he understands the full plan, but because he trusts the One who calls him. Psalm 33 echoes this trust: blessed are those whose hope is in the Lord, whose confidence rests in His faithful word. In Matthew 17:1–9, the Transfiguration reveals Christ’s divine glory to the disciples. For a brief moment, they see who Jesus truly is. Yet they cannot remain on the mountain. They must descend and continue the journey toward the Cross. The vision strengthens them for what lies ahead. These readings show that faith involves both leaving and seeing — leaving what is comfortable and seeing more clearly who God is. Abraham’s experience teaches trust in movement. The disciples’ experience teaches perseverance after revelation. Faith does not wait for full understanding; it responds to God’s voice. Abraham’s journey included long waiting and uncertainty. God’s promises unfolded slowly, often in silence. Many of us carry a “not yet” — a delayed prayer, an unopened door, an unmet longing. Waiting can tempt us toward fear or comparison. Yet faith continues forward. It grows not in certainty, but in obedience. As we reflect during Lent, consider: • Where is God asking me to step out of my comfort zone? • Am I delaying obedience because I want full understanding first? • Do I trust God’s promises more than my fears? • What “familiar land” am I being called to leave behind? • Is my relationship with God built on convenience or commitment? • Today, do I stand in hesitation or in trust? 🙏 Prayer God of promise, give me the courage of Abraham. Help me walk forward when You call, trusting that Your plans are greater than my fears. Amen. 🎯 Action Step Take one concrete step today in an area where you have been hesitating — a decision, a conversation, or an act of faith. Move forward in trust, even if the outcome is not yet clear. #MassReadings #Genesis12 #Psalm33 #Matthew17 #Transfiguration #Abraham #LentReflection #CatholicFaith #DailyGospel #WalkByFaith
