#BOCinService | Last May 29, 2025, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), through the Port of Davao, formally turned over nearly 3,000 abandoned balikbayan boxes to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), ensuring that long-overdue packages from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are finally homebound. These boxes, left unclaimed due to negligent freight forwarders, were lawfully forfeited and donated following months of rigorous coordination, legal processing, and logistical preparations led by the BOC in coordination with the DMW. The turnover stands as a testament to the BOC’s broader commitment to public service—demonstrating that beyond its trade facilitation and border protection mandate, the agency remains focused on delivering responsive and people-oriented solutions, especially for the country’s modern-day heroes.
