A broken bike in winter — I had to ride back fast

A winter enduro ride turned urgent when my 12-year-old son broke his gear shifter, leaving us temporarily stranded in muddy, icy conditions. The trail proved challenging, and deep in the forest my son dropped his bike, breaking his brand-new folding gear shifter and leaving us temporarily stranded. While he waited safely with the bear spray, I rode back on the asphalt to our village to get a spare shifter. Soon enough, we were riding again and completed the trail successfully. As we exited the forest near Kribul, we were rewarded with a stunning winter view of the Pirin and Ali Botush mountains, fully covered in snow.
