Moonlight Paddle Trip! Dates: May 17 -19, 2024 Drop off: By the bridge, right after PK dam Pick up: Rochelle's Canoe and Kayak Rental Miles: 20 miles Fearless leader/kayak enthusiast: Steven Another great adventure in the books! The weather and water flow was perfect! 8 of us set out for a moonlight paddle on the Brazos River. We launched at Highway 16 bridge and headed down river 4 miles to the perfect island. The moon did not disappoint lighting up our path as we took our time letting the current float us down the river. I love night paddles and this one was no exception! We spent the night looking at the stars and telling stories before turning in. Shout out to Brett for bringing the fire log! We woke up in no hurry and headed down river having a blast swimming, rock jumping, and snacking for about 9 miles. We set up camp at the 13 mile island and had another great night! In the morning we set off for the 6.5 miles back to Rochelle’s where we got out, said goodbye to the river and headed home. Huge thank you to Steven for organizing this trip! Lessons learned from this trip: Wear a life vest rock jumping, no matter how strong of a swimmer you are! That current was no joke.
