Ayurgenomics -- predetermining almost anything: Dr Mitali Mukerji at TEDxSGGSCC

Mitali Mukerji is a genomic scientist at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology. Her major research focus is in the area of personalised medicine.She has been the convenor of the Indian Genome Variation Consortium project which provided the first genetic landscape of the people of India. Her group has intiated a new field of Ayurgenomics with an interest to complement modern genomics approaches with the concepts of personalised and preventive medicine described in Ayurveda. Her group has provided the first scientific proof of concept for molecular basis of Ayurvedic concepts of Prakriti . Dr Mukerji has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award in Medical Sciences in 2010. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
