Playthrough of the 1995 PC CD Rom version. This is a very special game to me because it was my first ever Sonic game, which I received for Christmas. And it was awesome because I was the only person in my circle of friends who owned this weird Sonic game nobody had ever seen or played before (everyone else had the Mega Drive games, and none of us at the time knew what a Mega CD was). As for the port itself, it features all the levels from the Mega CD version. The FMV intro and ending look better here, as do the special stages. It does feature more load times however. It also uses the USA version of the soundtrack, no matter the region -if you don’t know, the Mega CD version had different soundtracks depending on which regional version it was. That’s not the case with the PC version. This version would later be used, with several changes, in 2005’s Sonic Gems Collection. The only issues I noticed with this were some framerate drops on the Metal Sonic and final boss fights. But how well was that extra life timed at 45:20? Yeah!
