the Path to your Goal Physique: http://www.thinkeatlift.com/path/ In this video we're going to talk about cardio for fat loss. First we'll discuss if it's necessary to do cardio at all to get shredded. Then we'll see the Pros and Cons of each type of cardio. And finally I'll help you decide if you need to do cardio and what form you should choose. From my experience, 90% of people do not need cardio to get lean. They can reach 6-7% body fat through dieting alone. Now, even if you don't need cardio that doesn't mean it can't help you. The way I see it, cardio has 2 benefits that we should care about: It burns calories allowing you to eat more food It may help with stubborn fat mobilisation There are a lot of other benefits to doing cardio but I feel that for our purposes (getting a Hollywood type physique) this is really all we should be interested in. The main advantage to doing cardio is burning calories so you can eat more. When you become very, very lean cardio may help speed up fat loss by improving the mobilisation of fatty acids from stubborn body fat stores. Here's my best recommendation for cardio: When cutting, create 80% of the deficit through dieting and only 20% through cardio. The best types of cardio for weight lifters are Low-Intensity-Steady-State cardio and High-Intensity-Interval Training. The form cardio that you should do only sparingly is Moderate Intensity Steady State cardio - running long distances, cycling on a moderate intensity, rowing, etc. The reason this type of cardio should not be done frequently is because it can interfere with your strength gains. We talked about the "interference effect" earlier in this video. Remember that high level aerobic fitness and elite strength and power are opposite adaptations. If you try to do both, you'll become mediocre in both of them. In my opinion the best way to do cardio is to use both HIIT and LISS. I know most of you are lifestyle oriented, you don't want to spend every day in the gym. So that's it guys. I hope you got some ideas out of this video but if you have others question, leave them in the comments below. I'll answer as many as I can.
