“Country Road” - James Taylor - Cover - Part 4 of Series “Reimagining Cover Songs”

This video is the fourth in a new series - "Reimagining Cover Songs". I’ve selected a number of my favorite cover tunes and will be putting an updated acoustic spin on each one. This week’s tune is the James Taylor classic, “Country Road”. James Taylor was one of my earliest influences as a musician. Generally when I’ve covered James’ tunes I tend to slow them down and open them up little. With “Country Road” I took a different direction - picked up the tempo and channeled more of a “rock” feel. I had been listening to a lot of Doobie Brothers - and this version kind of reflects how they might take on this song. :) I recorded this one on my 2017 Martin D28-12. I picked this axe out at the factory in Nazareth PA after trying six others -this is the one that spoke to me. After five years this guitar has really mellowed out - and sounds better every year. I also tuned this down one half step and played this one in “Drop D” tuning. Enjoy. Thomas
