Nice to Chamonix volbiv day 3 (on my Advance Omega XAlps 3)

Wednesday 31st July 2019 dawned cloudy so we were in no rush to break camp. We gave Steve's Xi a thorough check over and repaired two holes where a branch had gone through the bottom and top surfaces - it was amazing how lightly he'd got off! His harness was also torn, but nothing structural,.. As often happens, the sun been to break up the clouds and by mid-morning it was looking as though we'd get a half-decent flight in, rather than a top-to-bottom, so we headed up to the south take-off (actually the northern-most of the two takeoffs, but it faces more south than the more famous takeoff). Our plan for the day was to position ourselves for a good flight from Montlambert (only 32kms away) tomorrow,, however 9kms of that was a valley crossing, which with low cloud base and a strong NW\ly wind forecast, was always going to be a challenge, even on my new glider :-) Take a look to see how we got on...!
