Having exited Lock 2 and just passed the tug Everlast with her barge the Norman McLeod (which had pulled over to let the Leitch pass) everybody's favorite "floating bank building" the John D. Leitch continues downbound in the Welland Canal. Making her first transit of the canal since early May, the Leitch was heading downbound to Bowmanville, ON. Built in 1967 at the nearby Port Weller Dry Docks, the Leitch is the oldest Canadian built lake freighter still in service, as well as the only boat from the long since defunct Upper Lakes Shipping fleet that is still in use.
