A judge is expected to rule by April 1 on whether to revoke the release conditions of a teen charged in connection with the death of 16-year-old Preston Lord, after prosecutors argued Friday that house arrest is no longer working. Friday’s hearing came two years to the day prosecutors announced seven indictments tied to the deadly attack. Talyn Vigil, one of the defendants in the Preston Lord murder case, appeared in court on Friday for a hearing focused on whether he should remain out of jail while awaiting trial. Prosecutors told the court Vigil had picked up two new criminal cases while on release: a reckless driving charge and a separate case involving an order of protection in Gilbert. “The defendant is on release and he’s supposed to be on house arrest. This is the alternative to being in jail,” the prosecutor said in court.
