Hiking the Moray Coast Trail in September/October 2025

The official Moray Coast trail starts in Forres (not too far East of Inverness and close to Elgin) and is around 80 km long which I extended for an extra stage, finishing the whole tour after 5 hiking days and exactly 100 km in Portsoy. The whole trail basically runs over flat terrain and leads over infinte numbers of sandy beaches, grassy and rocky paths and through quiet but lovely, tiny fishing villages like Findhorn, Burghead, Lossiemouth, Buckie, Findochty and Cullen. I hiked long solitary sections without meeting a single soul, had fantastic encounters with the notoriusly friendly and very chatty Scottish people and discovered too many delicious beer brands in simple but cozy pubs. As a cherry on top it was mostly sunny and warm during all that time!
