Following the distinguished service of Sapper Signallers during the First World War, the Australian Corps of Signals was formed in 1925. On 14 February 1925, Australian Army Order 71 was issued, stating, “Approval has been given for the Signal Engineer units of the Citizen Forces to be formed into a separate Corps and designated the “Australian Corps of Signals”. On 10 November 1948, in recognition of service throughout World War II, His Majesty King George VI conferred the title "Royal" on the Australian Corps of Signals. Over the decades following World War II, members of the Corps have served with distinction in all operational areas in which Australian troops have been deployed, during both war and peace. In its Centenary Year, the Royal Australian Corps of Signals remains at the forefront of telecommunications, information technology and cyber security; providing the communications backbone for the Australian Army in support of the Joint Force.
