Interview with Wolfchant about "Echoes Of A Time Once Past"

For over 20 years, Wolfchant have established themselves as one of the most respected, consistent, and long-standing names in German Pagan Metal. Formed in 2003, they were instrumental in the furious Pagan Metal wave that swept through the scene in the mid-2000s, leaving a lasting mark with the cult album A Pagan Storm. While many bands came and went over the years, Wolfchant remained. Renowned for their intense and almost ritualistic live performances, Wolfchant regularly tour club stages throughout Germany and Europe, as well as major festival stages such as Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, and 70,000 Tons Of Metal, where they celebrate their music side by side with their fans during and after the shows. Musically, the sextet — Lokhi (vocals), Nortwin (vocals), Skaahl and Seehb (guitars), Sertorius (bass), and Ghust (drums) — combine driving, epic metal with memorable melodies and riffs. The vocal duality is one of the band’s most distinctive traits, uniting aggressive screams with sublime clean vocals that convey Wolfchant’s lyrics in a unique and multi-layered way. Now, Wolfchant are preparing to release their eighth studio album, Echoes of a Time Once Past, on February 13, 2026. Produced and mastered by Skaahl and Seehb at the Southern Wolfcult Studio between November 2024 and March 2025, the album delivers eight compelling metal anthems that reflect the band’s constant musical evolution. Averse to easy labels and repetition, Wolfchant continue to reinvent themselves with every release, while remaining true to the motto that has guided them for two decades: “Fear the Force of the Pagan Storm!” To discuss this new chapter, the band’s journey, and the creative process behind the new album, we spoke with Lokhi, one of the band’s two vocalists. __________________________________________________ Há mais de 20 anos, os Wolfchant afirmam-se como um dos nomes mais respeitados, consistentes e duradouros do Pagan Metal alemão.
