Timestamps: 0:00 intro 0:22 normal ride 3:33 control cabinets 6:12 motor / car top / lift shaft These lifts are situated in a residential bock in Biel, Switzerland. The building was completely renovated in 2017. With the renovation also came a significant change involving the lifts: The top floor of the building which previously housed the motor room has been repurposed. It now contains apartments as well as a terrace open to all residents. In order to make the terrace accessible, the motor room was removed and the lifts were replaced with MRLs, so that they now travel up to the former motor room floor. The odd/even setup of the original lifts has been kept but both lifts now have an extra stop on the 20th floor. The control cabinets are located in a small separate room next to the lifts. This special architectural situation also shows why these lifts have normal full-size pits but reduced headroom. The very top floor was not designed to house a lift shaft. The setup is also rather unusual because the lifts are side-pulled, which is very uncommon for lifts travelling so many floors and going at a faster speed.
