Prior to 2018, TOTAL gas stations in Liberia solely used diesel generators for electricity. However, these generators were turned off after 10 PM to preserve fuel, leaving the stations in darkness and heightening security risks. TOTAL Liberia then contracted GIZ/EnDev to install solar systems at three TOTAL stations to provide light and make the stations safer at the end of 2017. The TOTAL station in the Bye-Pass neighborhood of Monrovia in this video is one of those stations. Video produced by Monique John and Judith Fiukowski. For more, visit www.renewables-liberia.info. EnDev operates in 26 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America with the main objective to improve the access to sustainable, affordable energy for everybody. EnDev Liberia started its work in 2012 and collaborates with RREA and other partners on building structures for renewable energy markets in Liberia. This includes supporting solar installations for social institutions (schools, health facilities), promoting improved cooking technologies as well as strengthening the markets for pico PV products and cocoa solar dryers. EnDev hosts trainings and feasibility studies, assists with solar installations and collaborates in marketing and sales efforts for energy products.
