The third edition of Katharanya, and the first to be held at the Karu Experience Centre, unfolded as we had always imagined it might — not with grandeur, but with warmth. The room slowly filled with laughter, light, and a deep, shared longing for the Santiniketan we have heard of, or read about — a place of quiet beauty, of care, of humanity woven into the everyday. Saswati Guha Thakurta, with her inimitable charm, gentle wit, and unwavering love for the Ashram, brought it all alive. Through broad strokes and delicate detail, she painted Santiniketan into the air around us — sometimes in sweeping reflections, sometimes through filigreed anecdotes that lingered long after. The audience sat rapt. For many, this was more than a talk — it was a homecoming. Some had studied there, nurtured by its ideals. Others had visited through the years, drawn by its promise of wisdom and grace. For all, it was a place that represented peace, presence, and a kind of beauty unspoiled by time. As the evening unfolded, stories emerged — personal memories, observations, reflections — each adding a new colour to an evening masterfully woven by Saswati ma'am. We were honoured to welcome artists, thinkers, and dear friends into our space. Their words of encouragement, their generous reflections on the showcase, made all the labour of the past weeks worthwhile. Katharanya was always meant to be a space where the walls of Karu could listen — to stories, to memories, to the music of times past. This evening, they did just that.
