A relatively local walk this week, mainly due to the train strikes, but also the weather during the week. This 11.4 mile circular of Markyate, Hertfordshire comes from the North Herts Ramblers' library. It was undertaken on an overcast afternoon, with a NE breeze, but that didn't hinder commentary. There's occasional jet noise from nearby Luton. This was a walk along field edges, through woods and over commons and down land. There are some pleasant villages and a zoo as well. Plenty of bird-song, including some Cuckoos again, but the sun didn't make an appearance. Lunch was had at the lovely St Mary-the-Virgin church, Studham, where an alternative pub option also exists. An excellent walk, with decent paths today, though there are a few sections where large puddles near kissing gates can be a problem after heavy rain.
