Keep something to yourself! At least for a few days. A strange call in our age of show and display. In this delightful song, the poet urges us to keep our love for the Beloved hidden from the world, deep in the corner of our hearts. *** Find lyrics/translation of this song at http://ajabshahar.com/songs/details/7... Discover a universe of Bhakti, Sufi, Baul poetry and music at http://www.ajabshahar.org. *** Typical of the oral traditions, there are different opinions about the poet of this beautiful song. Parvathy says after consultations with respected Baul practitioners that it is most likely to be Uttam Chand Goshai, though Roshik Das and Rasaraj Goshai are also advanced as possible authors. Whoever the poet, the listener's true calling is to imbibe the 'ras' (essence). In September 2011, Parvathy Baul graciously welcomed the Kabir Project team to her home in Trivandrum and we got an opportunity to immerse in songs and satsangs with her over an intense 7 days. One night in the akhada in the upper part of her home, Parvathy performed this song to an intimate audience of friends. Parvathy is a Baul singer and saadhika, painter and storyteller from Bengal and has been a disciple of Shashanko Goshai and Sanatan Das Baul. She divides her time between her home in Trivandrum, Kerala and the Baul ashram she has built near Shantiniketan in Bengal.
