Exploring the Amazon Rainforest has always been a dream, but today, that dream came to life in the most incredible way. In this episode, we start our adventure with a guided hike deep into the jungle, on a mission to find the iconic giant lily pads that thrive in the slow-moving waters of the Amazon basin. Along the way, the dense greenery, the calls of exotic birds, and the hum of the rainforest created an atmosphere unlike anywhere we’ve ever been. As we navigated the muddy trails and crossed small streams, we had an unexpected and truly special moment—a rare encounter with a wild sloth! Tucked high up in the canopy and moving ever so slowly, it was a peaceful reminder of the unique and fragile beauty of the Amazon. Watching it in its natural habitat was absolutely magical and something we’ll never forget. Eventually, we reached the edge of a calm waterway blanketed with massive lily pads some big enough to support the weight of small children! Seeing them up close was like stepping into another world. After taking it all in, we made our way back and prepared for something we were both excited and a little nervous about: swimming in the Amazon River. Yes, we actually swam in the Amazon! The water was surprisingly refreshing, and floating in such an iconic river knowing everything that lives in and around it was both amazing and nerve wracking! Surrounded by the jungle and warmed by the late afternoon sun, it was the perfect way to cool off and cap off an unforgettable day.
