Thinking Strategically: Working in Partnership with Local Schools Speakers: Ruth Hemus (RHUL) and Michael Slavinsky (Languages For All) 23 January 2026 Part of the Thinking Strategically seminar series: https://ilcs.sas.ac.uk/research-polic... In this seminar, Ruth Hemus (Royal Holloway) and Michael Slavinsky (Managing Director LFA) will be talking about the emerging impact from the Languages For All project in Hounslow, and how the approach could be developed across the UK by universities working in multi-year partnership with local schools. They will explore the possibilities available to languages departments to do meaningful outreach and recruitment within the constraints of the current system. They will share examples of communications and strategies that the Languages, Literatures and Cultures Dept at Royal Holloway has adopted to keep languages high priority for the university, and similar strategies for cultivating enduring relationships with schools.
