What You Need to Know About Pallets Treated with Chemicals

In this video, we explore whether pallets treated the harsh chemicals Methyl Bromide are safe to use for woodworking and other projects. Pallets are commonly used in DIY projects because they are often free, but it's important to know which pallets are safe to use. I'll explain how pallets are treated to prevent the transmission of invasive insects, molds, and fungi and discuss the two main treatment methods: heat treatment and chemical fumigation. I explain how to identify pallets that have been heat-treated or fumigated with Methyl Bromide, and discuss the potential health hazards associated with using Methyl Bromide-treated pallets and provide and assessment of the safety of Methyl Bromide-treated pallets and share the findings of various studies on the topic.
