In this guided somatic practice, we gently explore psoas release for trauma healing. The psoas muscle plays a central role in the body’s survival responses — fight, flight, and freeze — and often holds deep, unconscious tension formed during moments when the nervous system needed to protect itself. Working with the psoas allows stored activation to unwind naturally, without forcing, reliving, or pushing the body beyond its limits. This meditation offers a trauma-informed approach to releasing the psoas through gentle positioning, breath, and natural neurogenic tremoring. Rather than trying to “fix” anything, the practice creates the conditions in which the nervous system can return toward balance on its own. You remain in full agency throughout, listening to your body and moving only within your window of tolerance. This practice is especially supportive if you experience chronic tension in the hips or lower back, feelings of hypervigilance, shutdown, or difficulty feeling grounded in the body.
