A juvenile court judge has denied the release of a 16-year-old suspect involved in a murder case, citing concerns over public safety. The case revolves around the murder of Caleb Quick, who was shot in the head in a Clovis McDonald's parking lot on April 23rd. The judges' decision came after a hearing in which the defense argued for the teen's release, claiming the circumstances of the case were unlikely to recur. Defense Attorney Mark Coleman said, "We were arguing that my client should be released because the circumstances in this case were not likely to reoccur." The defense argued that the murder was a result of specific circumstances unlikely to happen again. "My argument with regards to this case is that, according to the police, the theory of the murder is that this individual was killed as a result of sexual assaults that had occurred previously, and those were a very particular set of circumstances which are unlikely to reoccur," Coleman said.
