'Someday Little Children' | Children Television Workshop | Sesame Street 2 | Disneyland Records | 1972 Album Enjoy the whole album as Side 1 and Side 2 on this channel In the chapter on the music of Sesame Street in in my book 'Spinning the Child' about the albums on Sesame Street Records 1970-1983; https://www.routledge.com/Spinning-th... ... ... I write about 'Someday Little Children' - track 4 on this side of the album: "'The Official Sesame Street 2 Book-and-Record Album' also contains two songs that reflect the turbulent social and political climate into which Sesame Street was launched. The album captures the Children's Television Workshop’s utopian child-centred vision which had remained undimmed by the recent assassinations of progressive social leaders Dr Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy, widespread racial unrest and the upscaling of America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. In the soulful Joe Moss composition ‘Someday, Little Children’, African-American cast member Susan alludes to the then-current US Apollo space missions (‘someday soon there’s gonna be a lot of people living on the moon ... it might be you little children’) and to the recent medical advances in vaccinations for measles, mumps and rubella (‘Someday, little children, I hope it won’t be long, people won’t get sick no more, be always healthy, always strong’). ‘Someday, Little Children’ alludes to the pressing racial issues of the day." (pp 105-106).
