i'm back, in the form of something new. bare with me...there's more to come, and mtb related films will be back soon as well. me and a mate climbed up to brewster hut and brewster glacer the other week. it was so insanely steep, going straight up nearly 2000m within 2.5km and if you don't know what that means, its almost rock climbing. i loved every second of it and the views were just breathtaking. next morning up to the glacier, another 250m of elevation and this time even steeper. there was no track, only little markings in the form of rock cairns (stacked rocks), and right on the edge of the cliff. if you fall, it's game over, but oh boy was it worth it. the glacier was totally incredible and way way bigger than expected. we wanted to walk into the ice cave but it was just so far away, it would have taken another hour. i did fly the drone inside though...the shots from the glacier are the best I've ever captured, i was holding my breath and sweating the whole time i was filming. the walk down was very, very brutal. we acsended the 250m down to the hut again, knees on fire. took a 30min break and off down to the carpark. it took 6hours and the last 15mins i honestly could have cried. try ascending 2000m within 4km with no flat sections. it makes a grown man tear up. this may be one of the hardest tracks in nz that doesn't require mountaineering skills and i would highly recommend it. walking through the beech forest and along the snowy ridge is just fantastic. this is a new type of content that I'm trying, let me know what you think!
