Mt Tasman / Te Horokōau. New Zealand's second tallest peak, and one of Aotearoa's crown jewels. On a day like this, all of the failed attempts, the adversity, and (admittedly) fear just kind of faded away. We setup camp at Marcel Col. Our summit day was a very cold and early start. 3 layers on the bottom and 5 on top. My water bottle had frozen solid by the time we passed over Lendenfeld Peak. The sun rose as we made our way up the ice cliff on the north shoulder. The climbing was exposed and exhilarating. We led 5 pitches up, 4 down, and soloed the rest. Thankfully, the high cloud kept the melt-freeze snow crust firm as we made our descent. A very special place shared with very special people. Music: Julia - Kiltro Mi Capitan - Kiltro
