Rachel Pranger graduated from Edwardsville High School in 2018 as one of the most dominant multi-sport athletes. Pranger was an All-State performer in both basketball and volleyball, helping the Tigers collect 230 wins across the two sports during her four-year career. Pranger is the only player in school history with over 1,000 points on the basketball court -- 1,805 for third in program history -- and 1,000 kills on the volleyball court -- 1,220 for second in program history. Only Sam Epenesa’s 1,250 kills rank higher than Pranger’s total. Sydney Harris, with 2,024 points, and Emmonnie Henderson, with 1,806 points, are ahead of Pranger in basketball. Pranger owns the single-season volleyball program record in kills with 438. She did that as a junior. Her 333 kills as a senior rank seventh. She also ranks third in volleyball program history in digs (1,142), fifth in assisted blocks (151), and eighth in serve-receive percentage (92.6 percent). During Pranger’s four seasons with Head Coach Jami Parker on the volleyball court, EHS had 108 wins, two Southwestern Conference titles, two regional championships, and a sectional championship. On the basketball court, Pranger averaged double figures in each of her four seasons as a power forward. She averaged 14.2 points and 7.1 rebounds, grabbing over 900 career rebounds. Pranger had 41 double-doubles in her career, including a 34-point, 16-rebound performance against Peoria as a junior. Pranger helped Coach Blade’s Tigers to 122 victories over the four seasons. Edwardsville finished second in 2017 and fourth in 2018 at the Class 4A state tournament to earn two of the program’s three state trophies. EHS also won four SWC, regional and sectional championships, two super-sectional championships, and they went undefeated at home. Pranger was a two-time All-State selection in volleyball and a three-time All-State selection in basketball.
