TLDR: Raw troubleshooting video of how I found-out that the over-voltage issue of my solar setup was causing my inverter to shutdown - and how I fixed the problem. ISSUE: Over-voltage up to 17v+ on my small 12v solar setup using Demuda 60a MPPT SCC, which causes the inverter to shutdown due to "battery voltage high" fault. This happens when battery is full (with no load). SCENARIO: Was alarmed when I saw 15v+ on my volt meter at 1pm+ today - it even reached 17.2v as I was taking this video. My solar setup had no load coz I was trying to full-charge my battery since yesterday. So, I turned-on my One Solar 12v 1kw toroidal inverter to put on some load. But after a few minutes, it showed a red fault warning with message "Battery volt. high", then it eventually shut down! I later read in the inverter’s manual that this fault shows when battery voltage is higher than 15v, and the inverter shuts-down when voltage goes beyond 17v. And that explains why my inverter suddenly turned-off while I was trying to add load to my setup. Btw, my cheap 50a BMS was doing active balancing while all this was happening. TRIED: Set the Demuda MPPT SCC - FLD (floating voltage or charging voltage??) setting to 14.2v. The default value was 13.8v but I noticed that it was "clipping" my harvest to only 160watts+ during sunny days, so I set it up to 14.4v which yields good harvest of up to 200watts+ on my 300watts panels. I didn't know this will cause this over-voltage problem when my battery is full, with no load, and system is still harvesting. FIX: I eventually settled to the FLD value of 14v, not shown in the video coz I did it after almost an hour of observation. I hope to still get good harvest while keeping my system "safe" from this over-voltage problem. PS: My Demuda MPPT is just a re-brand and saw other brands in Shopee that look the same: PowMr, Aoyang/Aoyong, MakeSkyBlue, EcgSolax, Flowatt, etc. So I guess this problem (and potential fix or workaround) also applies to them too?
