【Pls look at the top comment first】For whoever knows Max Bacon for the first time, now turn back time to the golden 1980s. He once performed as an outstanding frontman from a supergroup GTR as well as sang in many other bands and projects. From his past vocal careers, Max Bacon is not an unknown role for loyal fans. "The Higher You Climb" is Max Bacon's solo debut, released in 1995 by Now & Then. Reviewing his careers, Max Bacon appeared on various 1980s bands on vocals that can be dated back to 1982. His earliest outfit was Moby Dick with an EP & Single release, entitled "Nothing To Fear/Can't Have My Body Tonight", featuring Bacon as the lyricist. From the line-up of this album, there include the mighty and familiar names, especially including Steve Howe, Scott Gorham on guitars; Geoff Downeson on keyboards and Jonathan Mover on drums. All the recording team members are the skilled veterans, who perform in various excellent bands as he vital roles, including the worldwide legendary bands. It is worth mentioning that this album "The Higher You Climb" includes a team from GTR, that is true. GTR was a short-lived British supergroup rock band founded in 1985 by former Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe and former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. Of course Max Bacon performed in GTR on lead vocals, best known for GTR's top 40 single, "When The Heart Rules The Mind" and the band's debut. Another deep impression that Max Bacon left on me is British hard rock band Bronz and the band's debut "Taken By Storm (1984)", which featured Bacon on vocals. So people can hear both hard rock side and gentle aor side from Max Bacon as he is truly an all-around vocal wizard, who can perfectly deal with music styles from metal to pop. In 1983 and 1984, he sang in hard rock band Nightwing and recored two studio albums with the band. It was not until the year he joined GTR that his style switched to melodic/pop rock, so were the following years that he sang in Phenomena and Mike Oldfield's project. We are hearing the opening theme from Max Bacon's solo debut. The song features Scott Gorham on guitars and Geoff Downes on keyboards. In this album, the line-up also includes two members from 21 Guns, which was co-founded by Scott Gorham in the early 1990s. Max Bacon's voice sounds as powerful and resonant as always, especially on the treble parts from the song's highlight. Musically, the full-length album covers decent aor gems with pop-oriented taste. Most tracks feature pop rock arrangements, like gentle breeze touching ears. The last two tracks are the live versions, respectively featuring Steve Howe and Steve Hackett on duo guitars and "Roundabout" is a cover song of YES's 1971 single. Feel the nostalgic vibe this album coveys, enjoy. In 2002, another solo album "From the Banks of the River Irwell" was released, featuring some material composed by Downes previously performed by Asia during John Payne's tenure. The second solo album includes some tracks taken from this debut, including "The Higher You Climb" and sounds a bit harder in its entirety. Bacon subsequently focused on his business as a pub owner, but don't forget his music careers as a former rockman. #MelodicRock #aor #MaxBacon #GTR
