Join us on one of the most scenic drives in the Northwest Territories as we explore the Ingraham Trail (Highway 4) — one of the furthest north all-weather roads you can drive in Canada. After extending our stay in Yellowknife from 3 days… to 4… to 5… we head out on the Ingraham Trail (Highway 4) to discover crystal-clear lakes, waterfalls, rugged Canadian Shield landscapes, quiet campgrounds, and the start of the famous winter ice roads that lead north to Diavik and other remote diamond mines - The Tibbitt to Contwoyto winter road. We travel all the way to the end of the road, explore Tibbitt Lake, roam through quartz outcrops and wild berries, visit Reed Lake and Prelude Lake campgrounds, and hike to the iconic Cameron Falls, one of the most visited natural wonders near Yellowknife. Back in town, we visit Old Town and then get an unbelievable private tour of Buffalo Airways — home of the legendary DC-3s, DC-4s, Curtiss C-46s, Electras, and aviation history you won’t see anywhere else. Their aircraft, famous from Ice Pilots NWT, are still flying real commercial runs across the Northwest Territories. If you’re planning a northern road trip, RV adventure, or visit to Yellowknife, this is one drive you’ll definitely want to add to your list.
