Cycling 1000km Around Hainan Island in China | Day 1

I cycled 1000km around Hainan Island in China during the Chinese New Year. Hainan Island is China’s southernmost province, often called the “Hawaii of China.” The route follows Hainan’s Coastal Scenic Highway, a scenic cycling road that loops around the island. This is my first-ever long-distance bikepacking trip. I chose it because it’s beginner-friendly, with cities and towns along the way where you can stop to eat and stay in hotels for the night. On day 1, we arrive in Haikou by ferry, rent a bike, and begin cycling from west to east, from Haikou to Lingao.
