Given the interest generated by the return of 3001 and the appearance of 3642 in black at the recent 2023 Thirlmere Festival of Steam, I thought you might like to see how they looked and ran at the 1996 Festival of Steam. This was the last Festival 3001 ran in before being placed in storage for many years until its restoration and return to service in 2023. Videos in the From the Vault series were originally shot in 4 x 3 Standard Definition and have been upscaled to High Definition and reformatted to widescreen. They generally cover movements that can now no longer take place.
