Possession by a Gondo Mayit is a mystical phenomenon in which a person is thought to be possessed by a wandering spirit (often associated with victims who died unnaturally) which causes a foul smell like a corpse and strange behavior, often associated with black magic or haunted places. "Ndadi" is a Javanese term meaning "trance," especially in the context of traditional arts such as Jathilan or Kuda Lumping. When someone is "ndadi," their consciousness is replaced by another consciousness, such as a spirit or "danyang," which makes them behave irrationally, such as eating broken glass or hot coals. Art is an expression of the human soul that is manifested in various forms (sound, appearance, movement) to express beauty, emotions, and ideas, and is an important part of culture that reflects the identity, values, and lifestyle of society, with examples such as dance, music, visual arts, theater, and literature. Jaranan dancers perform traditional Javanese art, particularly from East Java. This dance depicts horsemen using props such as kuda lumping (woven bamboo horse-shaped figures). Jaranan dancers are often accompanied by gamelan music and traditional songs.
