Dowland Festival 2026 Pegasus Early Music invites you to discover the beautifully expressive music of John Dowland, one of England’s greatest composers, in a special February festival marking 400 years since his death. Dowland’s songs range from gentle and joyful to deeply moving, with melodies that still feel surprisingly familiar today. The festival includes Songs Old & New, featuring voices, lutes, and viola da gamba, alongside newly commissioned works by Jonathan Woody that place modern music in conversation with Dowland’s timeless songs. Join us later in February as the festival continues for a spellbinding recital by world-renowned lutenist Paul O’Dette. Paul O’Dette is one of the most influential figures in early music today, hailed by the Toronto Globe and Mail as “the clearest case of genius ever to touch his instrument.” A renowned lutenist, conductor, and scholar, he has made more than 155 recordings, earned two Grammys, and performs worldwide. O’Dette is Artistic Co-Director of the Boston Early Music Festival and Professor of Lute at the Eastman School of Music. Sundays, February 8 + 22, 4pm Downtown United Presbyterian Church 121 Fitzhugh St N, Rochester Pre-concert talk at 3:15pm Tickets $82 preferred seating (includes $50 donation), $32 general, $10 students/limited income
