After a hearty breakfast in Capitanejo, I ride with my group of nine motorcyclists along a sensationally beautiful off-road route toward the El Cocuy National Park. It’s a paradise for riders who love unpaved paths and fantastic views. We brought fruits, crackers, water, and some snacks in the support vehicle, so we can have a small picnic amidst this breathtaking nature. After that, we continue toward Guican, from where we will embark on a round trip through the national park that will take us up to 4,200 meters. There, at this altitude, we get to see the majestic snow-capped peaks of the national park. The next day is even more impressive: a uniquely beautiful páramo landscape, rugged rocks, and green valleys. An absolutely stunning day in the eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes, which ultimately ends in the charming village of Mongui.
