The Unclaimed Veterans are those Veterans that pass away with no one to claim them. Do you want to thank our military in the most profound way by claiming these Veterans? If so, come join us each month and claim these incredible heroes and honor them by remembering each of them! The joy you can bring each of our Veterans by attending these celebrations will be something you and our Veterans will never forget. Since 1982 the year after the Cemetery opened, there have been veterans that pass away with no one to claim them. Some have lost contact with family, or have out lived other family members. These Veterans are interned without military honors that they earned and deserve. The third Wednesday of each month at Riverside National Cemetery at 9:00 am at shelter “G” near the Medal of Honor Memorial. We honor these veterans for their service to our Country. Please join us to recognize these men and women who have given so much for our Country. Each name is read, and a bell is rung in their honor. The Air Force Honor Guard fires a salute. Taps are played. Marine Corps Semper Fi team folds the American Flag, and the flag is presented in the memory of those we honor. Chaplain Forden gives a benediction and a prayer. A few questions that may be asked about these services are as follows: -Will Full Military Honors be given to the "Unclaimed Veterans"? Absolutely! All honors will be given. -Can anyone come to these events? Yes, the public is encouraged and welcome at these ceremonies. -Where and when are these services happening? They are at Riverside National Cemetery located at: 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518 at 0900 at Committal G every third Wednesday of the Month. Arrive early and please wear a mask during this time. Masks are required. -What attire is required? Feel free to come casual or formal. -Can we tour the cemetery or go see the Monuments? Yes you can! Please feel free to come and view the Monuments and Memorials all around the Cemetery. Just be respectful of services that are being performed and show reverence as you walk the grounds. Riverside National Cemetery is a place where the Military and their families are honored on a Daily basis. Many of the people who serve here are Veterans serving Veterans which makes these ceremony Tributes more special. Full honors of the Flag Folding, Bugle and Rifle Volly are from both active and Retired Veterans. Riverside National Cemetery is a cemetery located in Riverside, California, dedicated to the interment of United States military personnel.
