How to install Border Line. For more info visit our website here www.stockandnoble.com.au Border Line is a sighter wire with no steel in it whatsoever to provide flexibility and longeivity to maximise safety and long life. Why horse owners prefer Border Line is it is… a) Bold and visible for the horses to see reducing the likelihood of a fence accident. b) Long lasting – saving you time and money over the long term. c) Quick and easy to install – you don’t have to be a fencing expert to install d) High performance – fencing contractors often comment on the strength of Border Line compared to other sighter wires. . e) Can be tensioned very tight – Stock & Noble provides the casper anchors and joiners to support the Border Line being tensioned as well as maximising safety. 1. To ensure you maximise these benefits, ensure you follow the installation advice Firstly, clearly mark all posts for easy drilling. For larger installs you may want to make a template marker to increase efficiency. Depending on what size anchors you are installing you will need to use a spade bit to counter-sink the shaft and a larger spade bit so the head of the anchor can sit slightly inside flush. Drill out all of the holes and clean out any excess shavings and test the anchor fits. Complete all of the line posts ready to install the Border Line. For corner posts we suggest loosely putting in a staple to hold the Borderline level whilst installing. These can be removed once the project is complete and the Border Line is tensioned. Ensure the Border Line does not cross over itself around the corner. Run the Border Line through the posts ready for tensioning. To tension Border Line (4% of run length) To work out how to tension, measure the full length of your run of Border Line (example 100m), multiply it by 4% (example 4m), pull the Border Line so it isn’t sagging between your posts and then measure back the 4% measurement from the post and mark the Border Line. Take the Stock and Noble universal strainer tool and secure the anchoring end. To locate the soft jaw, if possible locate this past your 4% tension mark to allow tensioning to happen in one pull. For long distances you may need to do two tensions. To release the tensioner, take the tension on the rope before pressing the release lever forward. Press the release lever forward and remove. Tension up the Borderline until the mark reaches the back of the post. To ensure the jaws of the Casper Anchor bite in to the Border Line you may need to twist the anchor to help this to happen. One the straining is complete, simply cut the Borderline off as close to flush as possible. It is important to not leave any sharp or jagged ends exposed. To join the Border Line, we recommend the Casper Joiner which is a safe and strong joiner – simply push the two ends into the joiner and twist until the jaws grab. Once done the joiner is then locked in for life. For corners, you can run the Borderline around the outside of the post or on the inside which will hold once under tension. Enjoy your Borderline Fencing.
