At the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Mercedes-Benz showcased its latest addition to the eCitaro family: the eCitaro K, a compact 10.6-meter-long electric bus. This new model is designed for urban areas with narrow streets and lower passenger volumes, making it ideal for suburban routes or older city centers. Despite its smaller size, the eCitaro K can still accommodate up to 84 passengers, offering a practical solution for public transport systems that need agility without sacrificing capacity. Equipped with five high-voltage battery packs, the bus boasts a total energy capacity of 491 kWh, providing a range of over 300 kilometers under favorable conditions. The eCitaro K can be charged via plug or pantograph, offering flexibility for different charging setups. Safety is also a key focus, with features such as a 360-degree camera system, Preventive Brake Assist 2, and several other advanced driver assistance technologies to ensure both passenger and pedestrian safety.
