Llangollen Railway Branch Line Weekend Saturday 12th April 2025 Celebrating it's 50th Anniversary in 2025, the Llangollen Railway ran its most ambitious gala since its revival following the previous operating companies bankruptcy and since opening to its new Corwen terminus. The event saw the return to Llangollen, for the first time in steam, of GWR 6880 Betton Grange, the 81st Grange, which started its life at Llangollen (the frames were laid out at Llangollen) before moving to Tyseley in 2018 were it was completed at in 2024. The visiting locomotive joined resident Great Western Railway steam locomotives Pannier Tank 7754 and Heavy Goods 2-8-0 3802, along with the lines pioneer steam locomotive Kitson & Co. Works No. 5459 of 1942 Austin 1. We see footage of the trains at Llangollen (approaching Pentrefelin), Berwyn, Glyndyfrdwy, Carrog and Corwen. A popular feature of the event was a brake van special, formed of 5 Brake Vans and the former LNER Pigeon Van / Sunshine Carriage, with GWR 7754 taking the train up the line in the morning (which on this occasion included a tank wagon) and then Austin 1 shuttling between Corwen and Glyndyfrdwy in the afternoon with the set, before returning it to Llangollen at the end of the day.
