Minnesota mayors reject Trump’s comments on Somalis amid immigration enforcement threat

Minnesota mayors have rejected US President Donald Trump’s comments about Somali people amid reported immigration enforcement threats. Upwards of 100 federal immigration agents were poised to conduct raids on the Minnesota cities of Minneapolis and neighbouring Saint Paul, according to the New York Times. The rumoured immigration raids come after Trump called the Somali community “garbage” and said “we don’t want them in our country". In response, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey said the Somali community would be supported in every way possible by local authorities.
