Hi everyone! The end of the year is here! Wanna take a special ride? Well, here it is! I welcome you on board our brand new ICNG! Last week I recorded one of my test drives with this train. Sit back and relax. 0:00 Introduction to ICNG (Intercity New Generation) Welcome on board! We start the video with a variety of pictures. Of course first the outside of the train. Then some picture of the dashboard of the train. As you can see it's a pretty clean dashboard. Most functions are put into the digital screens. Now let's get to the passenger department. You will get a big upgrade when it comes to space and comfort. The blue seats are for 2nd class passengers and the red one for 1st class passengers. 1:58 Let's take the ride! After the signal has been set from red to green we can now depart. Let's go! Enjoy the sound of the engines at departure. Can't get enough of this. She's very strong on departure as well. It's cloudy and sometimes even foggy this morning. Later in this video we will get some better sky's. 3:30 Amsterdam Muiderpoort 7:09 Amsterdam Centraal First stop on the ride. Here the doors of the train get tested. Passengers can't enter the train when we do this. I close the doors myself as the train conductor (train manager) would normally do. After this we continue our ride. 15:14 Amsterdam Sloterdijk Another short stop and another door test. The door test is done so we know the systems will work properly when passengers will be boarding the train in the near future. 19:14 Amsterdam Lelylaan 22:43 Schiphol Airport Another stop on the route. This time at the airport. After the door test I took some pictures of the train for my Instagram and of course for this video! Smile! 29:10 Out of the Tunnel + Hoofddorp The clouds have touched ground level! Very foggy outside now. 30:16 Entering High Speed Line North Section (HSL) Let's enter the HSL! You might see there's a lot less work for the driver compared to the older TRAXX locomotives running on the HSL. The train practically compleets the transition to the HSL all by itself. The driver doesn't need to confirm ERTMS level 1 anymore. Also lowering and raising the right pantograph is done by the train. Makes the work a lot easier for the driver! Unfortunately there's a temporary speed limit on the first part of the HSL due to infrastructure problems. Until the "Groene Harttunnel" the maximum speed is set to 160km/h. And on this piece of track there's also a part allowing a maximum speed of only 80km/h. :( 38:43 Time for 200km/h + Groene Harttunnel Finally it's time to get this train to it's maximum speed: 200km/h! Enjoy! 43:13 Phase-Lock Bleiswijk Separation of two high voltage sections. Separated by a 400 meter powerless line. The trains high voltage systems are turned off and on automatically before and after passing this section. On TRAXX locomotives this is done by the driver. 46:26 Leaving HSL North Section When leaving the HSL the trains speed must be lowered of course. This is done by the driver. The train itself takes care of turning off the high voltage systems, lowering the pantograph, choosing the correct high voltage systems. And after the voltage change-over: raising the pantograph and engaging the high voltage systems. Normally all done by the driver when driving on TRAXX. Now the driver can focus on the speed of the train and the upcoming light signal. Just before entering the conventional tracks the driver must also confirm the ETCS Level ATB-EG (signals not shown on display anymore). 49:48 Rotterdam Centraal After another door test we directly continue our ride. 52:59 Willemsspoortunnel + Rotterdam Blaak 54:45 Rotterdam Zuid 55:21 Rotterdam Stadion + Temporary Speed Limit The temporary speed limit is set because of problems with the infrastructure. 56:27 Rotterdam Lombardijen 56:55 Entering HSL South Section As before. A lot of work is done by the train itself! :) 59:16 Full Speed Ahead! Time to get this train back on 200km/h again. 59:56 Tunnel Oude Maas 1:02:37 Tunnel Dordtsche Kil 1:03:20 Brug Hollandsch Diep 1:04:31 Phase-Lock Lage Zwaluwe Separation of two high voltage sections like before at Bleiswijk. 1:05:51 Leaving HSL South Section While driving to the red light (train ahead of us) the ICNG automatically works itself through the voltage change-over. Soon after this the light signal allows passage the higher speeds are allowed again. 1:12:02 Breda Prinsenbeek 1:15:47 Breda Arriving at the final destination for this ride!
