In this restoration video, I am restoring an old and rusty garden hoe. Very rusty, damaged but good steel. So I decided to repair it and use it again. In this video, I was experimenting with a rust remover and phosphatization. OLD GARDEN HOE RESTORATION | RESTORE HAND TOOL I decided to make another garden tool restoration video. I found this mattock on a scrapyard and wondered if it could be restored again. The tool was rusty, in quite a bad shape the steel was chipped and there was no handle. It was possibly a great garden hoe some time back. I started by manually removing rust using a spatula and a wire brush. After that, I used a drill with different types of wire brushes for further cleaning. Additional sanding and polishing were handled by sanding discs (80, 120). A solution was applied on all metal parts to prevent the tool from rusting as well as to ensure high adhesion of a cover painting using phosphatization. Maston metal spray was used as a final. I used the original wedge along with a new handle which I adjusted accordingly to the mattock and oiled the handle with wood oil.
