Our visit to Windsorton was an adventure filled with awe and discovery. As we eagerly traversed the long stretch of gravel road leading to the town, our excitement grew with the prospect of exploring a lesser-known gem. The Spitskop Dam, a massive body of water located just a short distance from Windsorton, left us in awe with its vastness and surprising obscurity. Continuing our journey, we stumbled upon an abandoned mining village, a haunting testament to its past prosperity, now reduced to mere remnants of its former glory. Upon arriving in Windsorton, we encountered evidence of past and present diamond mining activity, including intriguing boneyards with old, discarded equipment. Despite some signs of decay and abandonment typical of smaller towns, Windsorton maintained its quaint charm, with attractive properties overlooking the scenic Vaal River.
