Join us for a forward-looking seminar on the natural and anthropic hazards shaping Mexico City’s present and future. Earthquakes, volcanic activity, droughts, floods, air pollution, soil subsidence, and large-scale urban gatherings all contribute to a complex risk landscape that affects more than 20 million people in the metropolitan area. In this talk, Dr. Carlos Miguel Valdés González, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Geophysics (UNAM) and former Director General of Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention, will explore the geological, climatic, and human-driven factors that influence Mexico City’s vulnerability.
