The FASTEST Way To Kill A Powerstroke! Engine Autopsy Shows Why You Should NEVER Make This Mistake!

This is the 6.7L Powerstroke turbodiesel out of a 2011 F250 with 160k miles. This was from a truck bought from the Copart salvage auction that was supposed to "run and drive". Clearly, this engine did not do that in any capacity. This is the FIRST 6.7L Powerstroke I've had on the channel. So today we tear this engine all the way down to find out what happened to it. Why did it need to be replaced? Could the failure have been avoided? What parts survived? Thats the goal of this video. The 6.7L Powerstroke replaced the very much unloved 6.4L Powerstroke for the 2011 model year, and to this day, is still in production. This produced 400hp and 800lbft of torque in factory trim. These engines seem to have a lot more support and love than the two previous Powerstroke iterations. Why am I doing this? My name is Eric and I own and run Importapart, a full service auto recycler. Part of our model includes dismantling bad and core engines to salvage the good parts for resale while recycling the rest. We do not rebuild engines, we simply sell parts to those who do. 00:00 Intro 03:38 Removing the intake 04:05 Unbolting the EGR pipes 05:32 Pulling the EGR cooler(its gigantic!) 06:37 Removing the up-pipes 08:23 Unbolting the PCV filter box 08:45 Strawberry diesel!? 09:44 Fuel filter removal 10:13 Clearing the brackets off of the timing cover 10:44 Secondary water pump removal 11:59 The engine harness is FINALLY off! 12:14 Removing the RH Fuel rail, lines and injectors 13:47 BIG TIME STUCK INJECTOR! 18:14 Removing the fuel lines 19:49 Pulling the LH Fuel rail, lines and injectors 20:53 Unbolting and removing the LH Valve cover/intake 22:02 YUCK 22:34 Unbolting and removing the RH Valve cover and intake 23:13 Coolant crossover and thermostat removal 6.7 powerstroke 23:47 CP4 High pressure fuel pump removal and inspection 25:15 Unbolting and inspecting the turbocharger 26:01 Removing the exhaust manifolds 26:33 Pulling the RH Valvetrain out. Rocker arms and pushrods 27:48 Cracking the first headbolt loose on the RH Cylinder head 28:58 Lifting the RH Cylinder head off of the block. Oh, oh no! 29:51 Science 1.0 30:34 Unbolting the rocker arms and removing the pushrods from the LH Bank 31:33 Cracking the headbolts loose on the LH Cylinder head 32:26 Lifting the LH Cylinder head off of the block. MORE RUST 32:59 Science 1.1 34:22 Engine is mounted to the engine stand 34:36 Unbolting and removing the primary water pump 35:54 Removing the harmonic balancer 37:40 Lower oil pan removal, TRASH IT 39:19 Unbolting the upper oil pan. Was this leaking? 40:16 OH THERES THE PROBLEM! Yeah, copart, that ran and drove just fine! Or not... 41:12 Unbolting the front timing cover 42:03 Destroying the crankshaft seal to remove it so the timing cover can come off 44:22 Unbolting the removing the camshaft, full inspection 45:36 Rust abatement attempt #1 46:14 Unbolting 1st Connecting rod and piston, VERY STUCK 46:47 I BROKE THE PISTON TESTING HAMMER :*( 48:16 Trying to get the bad piston and rod out of the block, TRYING 50:02 Trying anything I can to get any of the rods and pistons out. THIS THING IS STUBBORN 51:40 Using the big bar to FORCE the engine over 54:01 GIVING UP! Well, not really, but NEW PLAN TO GET IT APART 54:21 Unbolting and removing the main caps 55:15 Pulling the crankshaft out 55:32 Hammering the rest of the rods and pistons out of the block 57:04 Total Lower end inspection(not like that). Crank, rods and pistons, bearings, block.
